Exhall and Bedworth Riding Club Rules for 2018

  • Every member of the Club shall be polite and courteous to other members, committee members and judges.
  • Members shall not mistreat in any way any horse/pony, whether inside or outside of the arena.
  • No excess use of the whip, spurs, or using a bit as a means of punishment.
  • No schooling whips shall be used within the jumping or showing arena.
  • Riders will pass left shoulder to left shoulder in the warm up arena.
  • Riders will jump the practice fence in the warm up arena in accordance with the markings on the jump wings.
  • Each horse or pony can enter no more than a maximum of three competitive jumping classes.
  • No horse or pony can enter competitively more than once in any one class.
  • No cantering or galloping outside of the arenas whilst on the show ground.
  • Correct protective (correctly fitting and fastened) head-gear should be worn, preferably in accordance with kite-mark standard.
  • Following safety changes made by the EU commission for 2016, Riding Hats must now comply to the new standards as outlined by the BHS.
  • Dress code for main ring jumping - light coloured jods or breeches and riding jacket.
  • Shoulders should be covered (on a hot day the committee may allow members to ride without jackets).
  • The judge's decision is final. All objections need to be in writing within 7 days accompanied by a cheque for £10.
  • No interference from outside the arena which hinders judges or helpers from making decisions will be tolerated.
  • Any member who uses foul or abusive language towards a judge or official will be issued with a warning. If bad behaviour conitnues the culprit will be banned from the next show.
  • The Club, its Committee, or persons acting on their behalf shall not be held responsible for any accident or injuries to any persons or property howsoever caused.
  • All members taking part in any event including Gymkhana and Handy Pony must wear Jodhpur boots or hard shoes. No plimsolls will be allowed. This rule also applies to anybody leading a pony in Gymkhana.
  • No studs or spurs to be worn in Gymkhana. No whips to be used in Gymkhana.
  • All Junior leaders to wear a hard hat at all times.
  • The Committee have the right to alter any schedule at their discretion.
  • An animal that does not exceed 148cm (14.2hh) is not eligible to compete in a horse class. The Committee has the right to measure within a fortnight any horse/pony competing in a class where there is a height stipulated when an objection is made against the height of an animal which does not have a measurement certificate. Horse/ pony to be measured in a designated area with a witness present.
  • The judges/ Committee reserve the right to decide if they believe that a horse and rider are not compatible as in size being appropriate.
  • Gymkhana races may be changed according to relevant circumstances on the day.
  • Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times and owners must clear up after their dogs.
  • Liability for damage caused by dogs rests with the owners.
  • Owners/ Riders are responsible for their own ponies/ horses.
  • All horses must be under adequate control by a competent person at all times. All youngstock and all stallions must be handled by a competent person.
  • Any animal considered to be a danger to any person attending the show will not be allowed to remain on the showground and may be banned for the rest of the season.
  • To be eligible to win an end of year trophy in any class, the same horse and rider combination must have competed a minimum of five times in that class during the year.
